Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Plans Children’s Mental Health Unit

Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) has begun renovating an unused obstetrics unit on its fourth floor into a new Children’s Mental Health Unit, according to an article in NNY 360.

The 12-bed, 8,000-square-foot project will house an inpatient short-term stabilization unit for children ages 5 to 17 with psychiatric disorders. Plans call for private patient rooms, activity areas for group therapy, individual therapy rooms, and staff offices.

The project is expected to be operational by mid-2021.
